Blogger Finds New Ways to Depress Me

Not being a technophile (boy is that ever an understatement) I can't say that Bloggers new look warmed the cockles of my heart.  OTC, boomers like me get used to a format, get comfortable with it and then resist and are intimidated any and all changes.  So when I saw the new format I released a pneumatic krekhtz, rolled my eyes, then rolled up my sleeves and told myself:  "You can do this Matzah-Bray of Fundie. It's really not so difficult."  And so I have.  I've posted two times now (this will be the third) since the changeover to the new look.

What has been more difficult than posting has been coping with a new feature on the new look that has taken the tatters of my self-esteem and run them through the office shredder.  I speak of a little number called "view count"  with the graph /envelope icon to its right, which records how many people have viewed a particular post.
For Illustrative Purposes Only.  Halevai I Should get These View Counts!

As if my stat counter numbers of page loads and returning visitors were not pathetic enough I now have to contend with even more anemic numbers letting me know that posts that I have slaved on for hours have, on average,  been viewed by less than a minyan .  What is even more sobering is that these "views" are counted even if they lasted only a few seconds. Bottom line is this whole Red-Tent Blog is arguably the most pathetic exercise in self-flagellation in the history of the J-Blogosphere.  If not for the rare traffic that comes my way when Rafi decides to link a post this would be an island inhabited by around  4 people.

Come to think of it it's not the blog that is pathetic...it's the blogger.

Once again, ignore the stats. Do it for the fun it gives you.

The "fun" is in direct proportion to the attention it garners me. As I have stated previously I am a sick, needy narcissist.

How does it count a view if someone goes to your main page and scrolls down to read all of the posts? I never go to the link of an individual post.

I think you're just trying to disprove "If you build it, they will come".

The Bray of Fundie,
Maybe this is the best place to mention that I have been impersonating you on twitter.com( since April 27, or He' be-Iyar, this year). I mean: I set up the @TheBrayofFundie account, added to the "following" list all those on your blogroll( i.e. "What I read when not contemplating my own navel...") who have twitter accounts, and used twitterfeed.com to automatically feed your more recent( i.e. since I started the account) posts, with links, as twitter tweets.

Since then, four, besides me, are following "you" on twitter, TikunOlam( ‏@tikunolam2pt0) has asked whether "you" would be actively participating, EFink( @efink) has re-tweeted the tweet linking to this very post, which, according to twitterfeed, got the link clicked( none of them by me) 8 times( though StatCounter only acknowledges 4).

I didnt know there was a way to know how many times a link has been clicked on twitter. Can you tweet me how to do that? I am pretty sure most of my readers come from twitter though I have no way of knowing. Twitter is where its at man. . .My blog will always be small as it is on a very narrow topic but I am pleased that many people that relate to my topic have found me. Pretty sure that was mostly due to my presence on twitter and finding people to follow who are concerned with the same topics as I am.

Tamir... Am I supposed to give you a hearty "Shkoyakh" for what you've done? Cease and desist immediately. Stop impersonating me. I may be a comment whore but I still have some standards. I don't Facebook, I don't do windows and I don't tweet.

Cut it out and close that account! Call me an ingrate but I'm mokhel the "huge" spike in traffic that you've brought me in order to maintain the integrity of my anony-blogger identity.

Tik- welcome back. Long time no hear, no email and no comment. I have no idea how to answer your twitter question as I don't tweet. The feature that I was talking about is something that appears in the new look blogger.

No.( There were two possible directions in which you might have reacted to what i did: you decided on one of them.)

The Bray of Fundie: "Cease and desist immediately. Stop impersonating me.

Cut it out and close that account!"

In the word(s) of "Max", the Trimaxian Drone Ship from the planet Phaelon: Compliance!

The Bray of Fundie: "Tik- [...] I have no idea how to answer your twitter question as I don't tweet. The feature that I was talking about is something that appears in the new look blogger."

I'm pretty sure her question was directed at me: I was the one who mentioned statistics about link clicks leading from twitter to your blog, and the fact that I admitted impersonating you on twitter would already have suggested to her that you have no account there.
